Pharmaceutical laboratory design is an important part of pharmaceutical engineering design, a complete pharmaceutical company needs to have a diversified quality inspection center, which involves a variety of laboratory design. In the rapidly growing field of biopharmaceuticals, whether biological cells or genetic engineering, in many cases such production workshops are essentially large laboratories.


I. Pharmaceutical laboratory design

There are a variety of laboratory layout styles, such as a single-channel laboratory layout, a double-aisle laboratory layout, a large suite of small laboratory layout and a mixed laboratory layout, which can be selected according to the specific situation.

It is recommended to consider the layout according to the actual work flow of the laboratory or the centralized setting of laboratories for the same purpose. Different laboratories (areas) can complete different experimental operations, and each laboratory (area) is arranged according to the order of experimental operations. It can be arranged according to the following workflow: sample stream, waste stream (toxic waste stream).

In the case of the old factory renovation project, the structure needs to review the floor load of heavy rooms such as large sterilization cabinets and archive rooms.

Hvac design is one of the key points of laboratory design, mainly exhaust and air conditioning two aspects of the content, but also one of the key contents of laboratory energy saving design.

There are two ways to design the air source: one is centralized supply in the park or factory, and the pipeline is directly connected to the use point; The other is the supply of gas from the gas cylinder, which is arranged between the gas cylinders and is sent to the gas point through the bus exhaust.


There are two ways to access the utility pipeline in the experiment area: one is to run the line in the floor or under the floor, and directly connect the use point at the use point; The other is a common intermezzanine pipe that is connected to the point of use through a functional column or partition wall.


Pay attention to the power supply design of high-power equipment such as sterilization cabinets (especially electric heating equipment); Precision instruments consider regulated power supply and UPS; Consider the separate grounding design of some precision instruments; Consider reasonable network, monitoring and socket design.


Iii. Pharmaceutical pharmaceutical laboratory fire and safety design

The layout of the laboratory should consider the fire evacuation corridor to meet the requirements of the code.

Water fire protection system is set up according to the requirements of the code, and the pre-acting sprinkler system can be considered to avoid the loss of equipment caused by accidental spraying.

Control the total amount of reagents stored, and choose reagent storage cabinets with exhaust air.

If there is a hydrogenation reaction, it should be set separately, the area is controlled to a minimum, arranged at the end of the building, designed according to the explosion-proof area, and consider sufficient pressure relief area and door bucket.


The experimental area is equipped with personal protection measures such as emergency shower and eye wash.

Items and personnel in contact with active strains should consider sterilization measures and do a good job of biosafety protection.

The layout of the quality inspection center of the pharmaceutical factory is mainly composed of the following functions: ① sample collection; ② Sample recording and distribution; ③ Sample analysis; ④ reagent storage room; ⑤ Cleaning and drying room; ⑥ Culture medium preparation; ⑦ Autoclave sterilization; ⑧ Conference room; ⑨ Data Archive Room; ⑩ Staff offices and washrooms. Sample holding room, analysis auxiliary function room (including balance room, precision instrument room, standard preparation room, etc.), utility auxiliary function room (including gas cylinder room, water making room, power distribution room, air conditioning room, etc.).
